Thialf Open Day on 11 October 2014

ThialfOpendag2014The Icebyks will be in action during the Thialf Open Day on 11 October 2014. Great opportunity to come and try not only icetrack cycling but just about every other ice based sport. And it’s free!

It will be VERY BUSY! You can have a go on an Icebyk between 3 and 4 pm but to guarantee a go, say you are ‘going’ on the Facebook event: www.facebook.com/icebyk

Spicing up the International Skating Union Congress

IMG_4547The ISU are in Dublin for the 55 ISU Ordinary Congress. Seemed like a great opportunity to introduce the delegates from all over the world to the Icebyks and Icetrack Cycling. The Icebyk team ‘met’ the delegates as they went out for their evening entertainment at the Merry Ploughboy pub in Dublin.

The delgates were chatty and cheerful and showed a healthy interest in the Icebyks. It would be fantastic to get invited next time so we don’t have to gate crash the party!

Keirin on ice?

imageThe Keirin is usually raced on a velodrome: about 8 cyclist do the first 6 or so laps behind a “derny” (a small motorbike) which gradually increases its speed. The derny then leaves the track and the cyclists sprint the last few laps to the finish. Imagine this epic racing but on ice!

The icebyk will be used to start Keirins for skaters next season!

Filmed from the Icebyk; Peter was holding the camara in his hand while pedaling infront of the 2 skaters. This simple and fun race format will be introduced in the 2014/15 season.
