Skate development

The Ice-Bat skates are totally critical to the performance; they are also unique to the Ice-Bat so require special development. Straight line speed needs to be balanced against cornering ability; stiffness balanced against flexibleness. We use test data from the Ice-Bat, ice yacht designs, speed skate designs, bobsleigh runner design, etc to produce Ice-Bat skates. As you can imagine…this process takes time!

We hope to announce the next event soon….

New best time

45.8 seconds this morning, helped by a number of aerodynamic improvements. However the skates need sharpening again to get round the bend at full speed.

What’s next?

The Ice-Bat team are going to review the data and the feedback we have received over the last few weeks – thanks everybody for your interest, support and advice!

We are going to make a number of changes to the Ice-Bats to improve performance, we will be visiting various 400m ovals for demonstration purposes and of course we will let you know when and where the next event will be held.

Do you have any nice photos or videos from the 15th? Let us know (info@icebatracing.com) and we’ll add them (or a link) to the site.
