A top day on the ice with team Philips (11 Feb.). An enterprising crowd from Holland, Russia, Israel, France, UK, Australia. Every one a winner!
Olympic qualification
IceTrack Cycling wants to be on the Olympic program in 2022.
Why?
-Partly because it sounds like a fun and outlandish challenge.
-But partly because there really is room for a second sport in the mega expensive 400m speed skating ice ovals. Speed skating is a fantastic sport – especially if you are Dutch – but few countries take it seriously and even more tragically, during the Paralympics the venue stands empty.
In order for a new sport to be considered for inclusion in the Olympic program, at least 8 nations need to take part in a competition for 8 years before it becomes an Olympic sport. That is why on 18 February 2014, 8 nations will gather in Assen, making a little history!
Dinsdag is IceTrack dag
Updating site
So I’m nearly done with updating the website. But annoying every now and again getting it all to work properly!
Next event is a company outing with Philips. Should be great with 6 Icebyks on the ice – world premier !
Ice-Bat -> icebyk
After abandoning the propeller in favour of wheel drive, the Ice-Bat name didn’t seem to work so well any more. So I have decided to call the wheel driven bike the “icebyk”. It is pronounced “ice bike” and this makes it easier to communicate. I have registered icebyk.com and icetrackcycling.org; these will be the names to used from now on. Ice-Bat will refer to the propeller driven bike which will doubtless make appearances at future demonstrations and exhibitions. It will take a while to change all the internet stuff so either be patient or send me a mail (steve@icebyk.com) if you notice things on the website that don’t make sense!
Various events are coming up, and I am particularly looking forward to the Dutch IceTrack open day on 24 March. Hopefully see you then!
