Sign up now for a clinic!

MV-Moves are running special introductory clinics as part of the “World Champs 2015” program. Come and give it a go! At the event on 17-Jan, we helped one lady out of her wheelchair and onto the Icebyk – she promptly pedaled out onto the ice where one of the fastest cyclist in the world (128 km/h at Nevada Human Powered Speed Week) was clocking up a few laps.

There aren’t many people who can’t ride an Icebyk! Sign up via the Champs2015 link.

How does the Icebyk compare to a skater?

icebyk vs skaterIcebyks and skaters use the same facilities and benefit from the same type of ice conditions. Inevitably people want to know ‘which is faster’? check out the graphic for the answer. The best skaters are (currently..) faster than the best icebykers. But it is much easier to get up to speed with only a limited amount of experience on an icebyk.

This is one of the reasons why the icebyk is ideal for one off events (like open days) and attracting new people to ice sports. Virtually anyone can enjoy cruising over ice at a reasonable speed within minutes of arrival at the ice venue!

(speed in km/h, average over 2 laps of a 400m ice oval)

Website update

If you are a returning visitor to the Icebyk website, you’ll notice the website has been updated. Or rather is being updated..

The changes are partly designed to make the whole online content thing more managable and consistent (website – facebook twitter ).

Obviously the real action is on the ice but the internet is handy to keep you up to date with what is going on! Which reminds me … unfortunately the Icebyk was not selected for the final of the ISPO Brand New competition.
